Taboo Act
Ravina .
The act
Ravina was Born in Fiji and adopted before moving to Edmonton, Alberta, in 2008, she grew up developing a deep connection with the city and, over time, became especially connected to its inner-city communities.
For years, Ravina dedicated herself to helping people facing some of life’s most difficult circumstances. Her work in harm reduction, street outreach, crisis intervention, and community support placed her directly alongside people experiencing houselessness, addiction, trauma, and other complex challenges.
Today, Ravina is entering a different chapter of her life. Alongside her continued education in Corrections and Justice at MacEwan University, she has discovered a powerful form of self-expression through fire performance, aerial arts, and burlesque.
Her story reflects more than a career change. It is a story about service, resilience, culture, identity, and learning how to create space for herself after years of caring for others.
