Madelaine Robillard (she/her) is a Calgary-based therapist, clinical supervisor, entrepreneur, and educator specializing in kink, consensual non-monogamy, relationship diversity, sex work, and 2SLGBTQIA+ mental health. She challenges the shame, stigma, and outdated assumptions that too often shape conversations about sexuality. Drawing on clinical knowledge, lived experience, and a radically affirming approach to care, Madelaine is passionate about making mental healthcare more accessible, inclusive, and genuinely responsive to the communities it serves. Her philosophy is simple: Your sexuality and relationships deserve curiosity, not judgment.
Your Therapist Shouldn't Be the Red Flag: Green Flags, Red Flags & Finding Kink- and Poly-Affirming Care
Your kink isn't a diagnosis. Your relationship structure isn't a disorder. And your therapist shouldn't treat either like one. Finding a therapist is vulnerable enough without wondering whether you'll be judged, misunderstood, or forced to defend the very parts of yourself you're seeking a safer, more inclusive and affirming space to explore. Plenty of therapists advertise themselves as kink-friendly or poly-affirming. But what do those labels actually mean? And how can you tell the difference between genuine clinical competence and a rainbow flag on a website?
Join Madelaine Robillard (she/her), Registered Social Worker, Certified Sexologist, and Founder & CEO of Revolution Therapy & Wellness, for a refreshingly candid, stigma-challenging conversation about what affirming mental healthcare should actually look like. Together, we'll expose the subtle red flags that often hide behind good intentions, identify the green flags that signal genuine understanding and clinical competence, and explore the questions worth asking before placing your trust in a therapist. From navigating judgment and challenging harmful assumptions to recognizing ethical boundaries and advocating for your needs, you'll walk away with practical tools to make more informed choices about your care. Whether you're kinky, polyamorous, consensually non-monogamous, questioning, or simply curious about what truly inclusive therapy looks like, this conversation is for you. You shouldn't have to shrink yourself, sanitize your relationships, or educate your therapist just to access mental healthcare.
Trauma-Informed and affirming care isn't a label. It's a standard.
